Phone-Holding Camera Stand Helps Tourists Take Selfies
At some point, we’ve all lugged camera tripods around during vacation trips or asked random strangers to take our photos at some tourist site.
In Fujisawa, Japan, there’s no longer a need to worry about those things anymore as the city has made it easy for tourists to take souvenir photos of themselves. The city of Fujisawa has installed camera stands in popular tourist spots to allow visitors and tourists to take photos of themselves without the need for tripods or the help of fellow tourists.
The stands, which were created by Japanese manufacturer Sunpole, can rotate at 360 degrees and are installed at just the right height and distance to take a nice and cozy group photo. The stand can accommodate any type of camera and even has a slot to hold smartphones upright.
According to photographer John Sypal, who first posted about the camera stands on his site Tokyo Camera Style, the stands certainly save people the trouble of asking strangers to take their photos and it also saves strangers from the pressure of taking a good photo.
