Technofarm International is a consortium of agricultural companies that have joined forces to develop and manage farms in Libya. Its main focus is to utilize the water resources provided by The Great Man Made River Project in the most efficient and productive way to produce food crops for the Libyan people.
In partnership with the Great Man Made River Water Utilization Authority, Technofarm is participating in the development of several farming projects in Libya. In all of these projects, after developing the farm infrastructure, including the irrigation, civil works, farm machinery and other requirements, it invests its own funds to provide the necessary seeds, fertilizers, technology, labor and management to produce the crops. After harvest, these crops are sold on the Libyan market and it shares the proceeds with the Authority.
Following this pattern since 2002, it is now in the process of building or managing 20,000 hectares of irrigated farmland in four locations in Libya. It currently produces a variety of crops including wheat, barley, oats, corn, potatoes, alfalfa and grass hay, table grapes, olives and several fruit tree crops such as peaches, pears and apricots.
It is delighted with the success of these projects, and it looks forward to many years of cooperation with its partners at The Great Man Made River Water Utilization Authority.
