Their campus partner policy helps to foster this dynamic community. LUSEP combines the benefits of a purpose-built corporate environment with a complementary R&D base and skilled workforce supply – made possible by its location on the University campus.
The development of LUSEP is a natural step for Loughborough University, with its world-class research profile and reputation for mutually beneficial partnerships with start-ups to multinationals. Long-standing sandwich degree programmes mean Loughborough students spend significant time in business or industry during their studies and the University has established strong relationships with many of these companies and research collaborations have blossomed over the last 20 years.
LUSEP has grown significantly since the University acquired the site from British Gas in 2003. Today it provides 63,000m² floor space for 40 organisations, a conference facility and many of the University’s specialist laboratory facilities which can support organisations without in-house provision.
Plans are now in place for ambitious expansions to create up to 200,000m² of floor space for up to 6,000 people within in 15-20 years. LUSEP’s expansion is starting with an 8 hectare site and plans are at an advanced stage for the first new buildings, including a new Innovation Centre.
