When you have a favorite food, you treat it like a delicacy. It doesn’t have to be something fancy and expensive like caviar or puffer fish, since most of the time we like to eat things that make us nostalgic anyhow. If you still love mac and cheese and hot dogs, your tastes have likely refined to a point where you can’t eat the hot garbage out of a box or the cheapest dogs in the store anymore, but that doesn’t mean you don’t know how to get your hands on grown-up versions of your childhood favorites.
While you don’t have to get this serious, I don’t think anyone would judge you too harshly for buying this Retro Pop-Up Hot Dog Toaster. This is a toaster as you know them, but it is built specifically to toast two hot dogs and two buns that are of average size. None of that foot-long business like you might find at a county fair.
This has an adjustable cooking timer, as well as a stop cooking button, much like the toaster you likely already have at home. Since you’ll burn the skin off your fingers if you try to touch the meat, this comes with mini tongs. There’s also a drip tray for crumbs and grease that will undoubtedly follow after the heating process. This is a $25 purchase, but for those with a larger appetite or a family to feed, there’s a 4-dog version that will cost you $49.99.
