The Education and Science Committee has reported to the House on its inquiry into the delivery of education for students with dyslexia, dyspraxia, and autism spectrum disorder. The report contains 46 recommendations which all members of the select committee have agreed to.

The ‘Inquiry into the identification and support for students with the significant challenges of dyslexia, dyspraxia, and autism spectrum disorders in primary and secondary schools’ began in August 2015 and received over 400 submissions.

The committee would like to thank all the submitters for contributing to the inquiry. Their submissions were vital to the final outcome of this report.
Committee chairperson Dr Jian Yang said “it is important that these students are getting fair opportunities to raise their educational achievement and that the education system is equitable and inclusive for all New Zealand children.”
The Government response to the committee’s report is due on 23 February 2017.
